November News Update:

Book Fair

Please note that the Book fair will be open from 8.40am to 9.00am, 3pm to 3.45pm on each day. We are trying to aim for sales of £500.00 and this entitles the school to a very good range of free books.

You may be aware that all Primary 1, 2 and 3 pupils will be entitled to free school meals after the Christmas holidays. There will be a slightly different system and we will be informing you about this in the December newsletter. Please do not buy any excess tickets as they will not be refunded.

Christmas Lunch
Our annual Christmas Lunch will be on Thursday 11 December. A menu is attached.

School Council Meeting
The next School Council Meeting is being held on Tuesday 02 December at 7pm in the school hall. All welcome!

Help Us Celebrate Drumoak School!

Help required

Our whole-school project for 2014/2015 is to celebrate the history of the current Drumoak School. We aim to have a concert at the end of the session and also produce a book about the school. We would very much appreciate help from the community, especially people who went to school at Drumoak and would be willing to contribute their stories, memories, and pictures to our project. Please contact Paul Wilson (headteacher) or Audrey Reid (School Council, 01330 811539 daracottage@hotmail.com) if you can help us.

Conoco Cup and Spring Fair

Dear parents,

Our annual Spring Fair will take place on Saturday 24th May in Keithmuir Park. The event will begin at 1pm and run alongside the Conoco Cup Football Tournament. Please come along for a fun afternoon and support Drumoak School. We will have a variety of stalls for all ages to enjoy as well as a barbecue, refreshments and ice cream. Why not bring your picnic chairs and make an afternoon of it.

We would also like to make an appeal for donations for the bottle stall and/or the home bake stall. If you are able to make a contribution then you can bring this along on the day or hand it in to the office by Friday 23rd. We look forward to a successful day.

Drumotters Needs You!

Drumotters is the swimming club for the children of Drumoak Primary School.  We are currently looking for volunteers to become Swimming Teachers.

We teach on a Thursday night at Banchory Swimming Pool from 5.30 – 6.30pm.

You would be required to train for a professional qualification, which would be fully funded by the Club.  Obviously a commitment to attend most Thursday nights is also required.

Your children would be given automatic entry to the Club and if already in the Club, you would not be required to pay any fees.

For further information please contact:

Sue Shand – 811030 / 07743011357

Drumotters Newsletter

Drumotter’s Swim News:

Dates for your diaries:
– May 11th: Lengths (and top widths group) Distance Swim and Deepwater session, Aboyne Pool, 3:30-5pm
– May 15th: Widths Distance Night
– June 5th: Interhouse swim challenge
– June 19th: Parents Open Evening at the school – no swimming

It would be helpful if parents could go over the distance swim rules with their child(ren):
1. No feet touching the floor – as soon as you are seen to be walking you will be stopped
2. No stopping – especially at wall when changing direction.
3. No changing stroke mid length
4. To minimize crashes, please limit the number of backstroke lengths

Thank you very much to all the parent volunteers for the lengths distance swim day – we really appreciate your help to give the kids the best possible chance to achieve their distance swim badges.

Can we also remind parents and swimmers to please place their clothes in lockers rather than leaving them in the cubicles during their lessons so that the previous and next group of swimmers can use the cubicles.
